SHORT TERM SOLUTIONS
Excessive body or facial hair can be
most annoying or upsetting for both
men and women alike. Often it is a
problem that is kept hidden for many
years from friends and family due to
embarrassment. Many people have
tried numerous forms of depilation,
from shaving, waxing, plucking,
electrolysis and depilatory creams.
These other methods offer short
term solutions but generally with
unpleasant and unwanted side effects,
such as rashes, ingrown hairs and
inflammation, sometimes resulting in
longer term scarring.
THE TREATMENT
With the Intense Pulsed Light (I.P.L.)
system we can provide a clean, non
invasive, highly effective treatment for
almost all body areas with minimal
discomfort. We are also able to treat
more effectively patients with varying
skin and hair types due to the efficacy
of this system.
IPL works, as laser hair removal
systems do, by the treatment light
being absorbed by the pigment
(melanin) in the hairs. The I.P.L system
produces pulses of light which, as they
are absorbed, generate heat which
destroys the hair follicle without causing
damage to the surrounding skin, once
this follicle is destroyed then there is no
re-growth.
A course of treatments are required
due to the cycle of the hair growth.
This will be assessed by a Registered
General Nurse at your initial
consultation and all your medical
history will be taken in to account.
A treatment plan will be formulated
specific to you, your skin, hair type
and the areas you are wanting to
have treated.
The most common treatment areas
for women are face, underarms, bikini
and tummy line and legs, and for men,
chest, back, shoulders and eyebrows.
There is no recovery period after
this form of treatment, just a
permanent reduction in the growth
of unwanted hairs; a smoother appearance to the treated areas
and relief from the embarrassment
of unsightly excessive hair growth.
